Documents Required for Filing Bankruptcy

DEEDS
Deeds are necessary if you own any land or real estate
HOMESTEAD DEED
A homestead deed is necessary if you have filed a prior bankruptcy
Tax Assessment Real Estate
Personal Property & Real Estate Tax assessments are needed from the city or county you live in. This includes your House, Land, Mobile Home, Cars, Trucks and other Vehicles.
CREDIT REPORT
A copy of an updated credit report
PAYSTUBS- LAST 60 DAYS
At the very least you will need to bring paystubs from the last 60 days. It is best if you have the last 6 months to bring.
BANK STATEMENTS
Bring the last 60 days of all Bank and Investment statements you have.
Vehicle Title
Bring your Vehicle Title of DMV Transcript unless it is not available because it is being held by the bank of finance company.
HOUSE STATEMENT, BILL, PAYOFF
If your house is being financed bring any loan information, bills or payoff
car loan
If your vehicle is being financed bring any loan information, bills or payoff
mobile home loan
If your mobile home is being financed bring any loan information, bills or payoff
retirement plans
Bring any documentation on retirement plans with statements showing balance of funds in each plan.
Tax Return
It is important to bring last years tax return and it might be beneficial to bring the year before as well.
life insurance value
If your Life Insurance has value, bring Proof of the Policy’s Cash surrender value.
lawsuit paperwork
If you are involved in a pending lawsuit, bring all supporting documentation for the suit.
Divorce Decree
If you have been involved in a Property Settlement Agreement or Divorce Decree within the past 5 years, bring any supporting documentation.
small business
If you own a small business, bring all documentation to show the value of your business or businesses.
